Ralph Welpe was the Head of Strategic Client Management at Julius Baer until the end of last year. He was responsible for building and running the coverage of the bank’s global top 100 clients across all regions, products, and services (min. AuM CHF250m/client).
He previously spent more than 15 years at Deutsche Bank, holding various senior positions in Europe and Asia Pacific. In his last role, he was responsible for the coverage and management of Deutsche Bank’s global Top 500 client relationships across all divisions. Prior to that he was a Director of Regional Management in the UK, DB’s global Investment Banking hub with 8,000 FTEs that generated one-third of the bank’s global revenues. Together with the UK CEO, he was responsible for key client coverage, setting-up and managing the UK Regional Management function, and overseeing all infrastructure functions. He was a member of the UK ExCo, UK Regional Governance Board and UK Social Responsibility Committee.
From 2007 to 2009, Ralph was Chief of Staff for the Asia Pacific region with 14,500 FTEs in 18 countries. Together with the Regional CEO we worked on expanding Deutsche Bank’s footprint in China and India, reviewed the regional strategy, oversaw the regional governance, and established Deutsche’s Asia Pacific Advisory Board. He was a member of the Asia Pacific ExCo, Asia Pacific OpCo and was a shadow board member of HuaXia bank.
Ralph started his career as an M&A and Corporate Finance Investment Banker at Deutsche Bank in Singapore and Frankfurt. He also worked in Japan and joined the bank’s Corporate Development & Strategy Department in Frankfurt during the Banker’s Trust integration.
