Billy leads the Time Private Capital investment advisory team at Time Partners, focusing on the design of bespoke investment strategies and global fund selection. He has over 30 years of experience in private markets investment management.
Billy brings unrivalled experience to Time Private Capital having initiated a significant private equity fund investment programme at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) in 2000 where he built a diverse, multi-national and award-winning team. As Head of Private Equity, Billy led in excess of EUR 2bn of commitments to over 100 private equity funds globally across the spectrum from early stage venture through large buyout and was a member of a number of advisory committees. Billy was also heavily involved in sourcing co-investments and secondary opportunities. He was a member of the European and Asian private equity investment committees and was the lead fund manager for several clients, including funds of funds (listed and unlisted), pension funds and insurance companies. Billy played a key leadership role as the business went through a period of significant organisational change including the acquisition of SWIP by Aberdeen Asset Management in 2014 and the subsequent merger of Aberdeen with Standard Life in 2017. His final role was Head of Primary Funds Europe. Prior to joining Time Partners Billy worked as a placement agent and secondaries adviser with AXON Partners.
During the 1990s Billy was an Investment Director with Murray Johnstone where he invested directly in private equity across the UK. Billy trained as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and has a degree in Accountancy and Economics from the University of Strathclyde.
